Hello and welcome to the blog! My name is Sal Alexander, I’m a travel writer and photographer from the UK. Over the past 5 years I’ve lived in 4 different countries, travelled to over 20 cities, and taken countless flights. Right now I’m writing this post from a caffè in Rome, the city I’ve been calling home for the past 9 months, and that I’ll be waving goodbye in just 5 days. I’m constantly on the move, jumping from city to city, meeting new and inspiring people with amazing stories to tell, and creating fantastic memories along the way.
But my life hasn’t always been like this. I used to be petrified by the idea of change. I always loved the idea of adventure, but never felt like I could actually LIVE that life.
I decided to create this blog because I want you to come with me on this amazing journey. I want to inspire you to follow your dreams, regardless of your background or economic status. Let’s face it, if you’re rich and don’t need to work, travelling is fairly easy - you choose a destination, book a hotel and a first-class ticket, and off you go. But is that what travelling really is? I don’t believe so.
Travelling is something that happens inside of us. We don’t just get on a plane, we fly. We don’t just visit a new country, we explore it. We don’t just take photos, we tell a story. Our story.
You might think that it’s too difficult and expensive, you might not have the confidence to believe you can actually leave your shell and be the person you’ve always been in your imagination. But you’re wrong. You’re very wrong. That’s the only person you can and should be. Failing to realise your dreams means failing to realise yourself.
You might be at the very early stage, where you dream of a life full of adventures, but don’t really know how to even start such a life, or even worse, you might even think you’re not really meant for such a life.
Maybe you’re already an experienced traveller, and are just looking for tips on how to make your journeys more interesting, and how you can find yourself no matter where you go.
Or maybe you’re somewhere in between, and spend a lot of time planning, talking and procrastinating, and very little time living those plans.
This blog is aimed at all of you. All of us. Because no matter how unique and special we believe we are, there are millions of people out there who share exactly the same dreams, fears and insecurities as we do.
My goal is to help you realise your travelling dreams not by telling you what to do, but by inspiring you with my stories.
